Kemet Online! Terms Of Use and Policies

In order to make KemetOnline! a safe haven for all of our members, we require that all members who sign-up answer a few questions and agree to the Terms & Conditions outlined.

After you sign-up, you will receive an email* asking for the following:

1. Your full real name and contact information. (include Legal name mAddresss and telephone and email)
(This information is only for the KOL Admissions staff and will not be shared or sold with any parties outside of KOL.)
2. Why are you interested in KOL?
3. What do you bring to our community?
4. What do you hope to gain from your participation?
5. What are your current religious affiliation(s), if any?
6. Our community has a strong sense of ethics. Central to building a trusting community which extends beyond the Per Ankh congregation to Kemetics and other persons who wish to learn about the Ancient Egyptian Religion, is the commitments of our members. These are the basis of most of our decisions on the site and in the community. They include:
1. That our members not engage in personal attacks on members or anyone else--whether on KOL or offsite.
2. While attacks on persons are never permitted--intelligent and respectful criticisms about practices are permitted.
3. Members follow our terms of service, and keep confidential anything posted on KOL on the private side.
4. While interest in the scholarly aspects of faith varies among members, as does interest in our more social forums, all members respect the importance of these different conversations to those who participate.
5. In the area of scholarship we take contemporary scholarly achievement in religious studies, Egyptology and other fields of human inquiry seriously.
6. We are anti-racist and aware that racism still exists in the US and elsewhere. Conversations on politics and different opinions are welcome. However, we believe Netjer's love and the practice of this religion is not limited by race or any other characteristic, and we are committed to an environment that respects diversity and differences in the world and in this community.

You must provide the information above in order to be approved for membership into KOL's private forums. *Also, at this time, we are NOT accepting applications from free-email accounts (yahoo, hotmail, anonymous, juno, etc) because of a variety of problems we have experienced from some of these accounts. You MUST provide either a non-free email account (such as from your ISP or work email) OR provide a way of ID verification, such as your workplace or university/school number phone number

By Registering for KOL you also grant permission to Administrators to check up on any and all information provided .

READ TERMS OF USE BELOW:

2. Kemet OnLine does not take responsiblity for the behavior of its members or the content of a member's post.

If a member has a complaint about the behavior or posts of another person, that member should attempt to contact the person directly by email to work it out. If no resolution occurs, and if the problem is about what is happening in a specific conference, the member should contact KOL Staff for assistance. Otherwise, the Staff will not usually attempt to mediate between or among members, although host(s) will delete ad hominem posts and will attempt to keep discussions on topic.

The Administrators of KOL can act as arbritrators in conflicts, however, KOL members agree that KOL's Priest/Administrators are the final arbritrators of any conflicts of decisions.

3. Kemet OnLine members can use the work posted to Kemet OnLine for personal use but can not redistribute it without prior permission of the author and poster. Doing so constitutes a violation of Copyright and the rights of members to a safe environment

This applies to all content on the KOL site.

Failure to respect rights of authors to their posts and privacy may also result in suspension or revocation of membership.

4. For their own protection and that of other members, Kemet OnLine members agree to keep their password secret.

Members are free to repost their OWN words anywhere they like..provided these do not include the words of any other poster. The posting of threads in public or sharing with non members is strickly forbidden and violations of copyright will be pursued to the full extend of the law.

2. KemetOnLine does not screen works prior to posting, nor require approval prior to posting. The exceptions to this rule are conferences specifically listed as moderated. Kemet Online has no responsibility for any works posted by its members; Kemet Online simply acts as a service to enable posting of works members choose to post.

This also includes the right of Kemet OnLine to copy such work as part of normal backup processes and of Kemet OnLine hosts to archive such work as part of the regular archiving of topics. Kemet Online as joint owners of material posted here with the author can repost threads to otehr areas of the Kemet Online website. Posting work on KemetOnLine areas does not give other members the right to use such work for any other than personal use without prior permission of the author.

3. KemetOnLine members agree as part of their membership not to violate the laws of the Commonwealth of the state in which they reside and the United States while using their accounts or laws of their country or region

Since Kemet OnLine may have members in all states and around the world, and since work posted on the Internet is accessible to anyone on the Internet, members should be careful not to violate the statutes of other states and international jurisdictions.

4. Kemet OnLine cannot provide any guarantee or protection from any such legal problems arising from members posting their work.

Kemet Online may change the terms of these agreements at any time and will notify members of any change in the conference designated for these announcements.

Members are encouraged to give input into such policy decisions in that conference.

Kemet Online can assign and delegate its rights and/or obligations to any successor to any part or all of its resources

This agreement supersedes any and all other agreements regarding Members' Guidelines and Legal Guidelines and is governed by the internal laws of the United States and the Commonwealth of Wisconsin.
