I agree with you that what is important is our relationship and connection to Netjer. I would suggest that is exactly why the Kemetic Traditional Religion (Per Ankh) does not believe in Atlantis

Let me explain a bit.

For us, part of conencting to Netjer IS conencting to the religious culture of the Ancient Egyptians. That culture is very much an African culture. While Netjer is not limited to any one society or culture...we humans do grasp religion THROUGH culture... So to understand the meaning of ancient religious practices understanding the origins of that people and the nature of their culture is very important.

Rev Jade speaks in the thread entitled Origins of Egyptian Civilization about the tendency of many modern folks (and some early Egyptologists) to assume Ancient People's could not be "advanced" or to evaluate their practices from our modern popint of view.

This was especially true in terms of African civilizations. Many Early scholars could not accept the idea that African people's COULD create such a civilization on their own. Thus various theories of European's REALLY founding Ancient Egypt..or even of Alien's where very common despite the lack of any serious evidence for these claims.

Recently a work by Toby Wilkinson Genesis of the Pharaohs provides evidence that the origins of the culture of Ancient Egypt is in the Eastern Sahara. Here there are cave drawing which include symbols unique to Ancient Egypt--like the Bark of Ra and so forth.

This evidence confirms the African origin of the Ancient Egyptians which tells us a lot about the culture and meaning of ancietn egyptian religious practices and how to understand these.

And after all..to make a connection with Netjer..and with an Ancietn Faith begins with understanding..HOW THEY understood and interpreted their connection to Netjer.

Anyway..Hope this is helpful in explaining the reactions you have encountered to the Atlantis idea

The short version is..it goes against what evidence we have from serious scholarship and can be used to feed racist ideas about Ancient Africa. And such ideas do affect how we understand and connect with Netjer.
