Kemet OnLine Conferencing Guidelines
1) Disagreements are healthy; ad hominem attacks are not.
- Disagree with the position, don't trash the person.
- Disagreement need not become flaming and isn't automatically considered to be flaming. Flaming--that is, insulting the person of the poster--will be deleted when it occurs.
2) Any Kemet OnLine member may start new topics within conferences, which will be facilitated by the host(s) of that conference.
3) New topics which repeat topics already in place will be combined so as to avoid fragmented discussion areas.
- If you think your topic is really different and needs its own place, please let the conference host(s) know, and your request will be considered.
4) Ad hominem posts will be deleted.
If one of your posts is deleted, you have the following options:
- Email to ask the conference admin to ask why it was deleted and ask to have it replaced.
- Open a topic to discuss the appropriateness of the deletion in the suggestions and input board
- Rewrite the post, eliminating the ad hominem part, and repost it.
5) Conference hosts may suggest that posts which are off topic, or threads which are off topic, be moved to another topic or be eliminated completely. These decisions will be guided by the Definition of Kemetic religion posted in the first thread of this board (as outlined here.) The definition defines of religion of Kemet Online.
We welcome all with an interest in Ancient Egyptian religion. However, as practitioners of the Kemetic religion (as defined above) our primary purpose is on our faith and all vistors should act respectfully towards this religion.
However, we recognise that conversation cannot be regulated into narrow channels if it is to be valuable; therefore, evolution of the topic will be encouraged.
6) Kemet OnLine members may upload text and graphics resources they have written or have permission to share use by other members.
- Members may suggest resources to be added to the Kemet OnLine by emailing a brief statement of why they think these resources should be included. The Kemet OnLine Staff will have the final decision about what will be added to the Kemet OnLine.
7) Kemet Online provides some sub-communities and organizations protected public space. These spaces will have rules and cultures which satisfy needs of a segment of the community. If a member is not happy with the culture of a particular conference or conference host and cannot abide by the rules They should simply stay out of that conference. There are many other places for such members to express their differing opinion. If no such space exists they should inform us so we consider adding a new space
8) Kemet OnLine members who consistently engage in conference disruption and ad hominem attacks, and who do not respect conference hosts' and other members' requests for moderation, may have their passwords revoked, preventing them from participating in Kemet OnLine.
- This is a sanction we want to invoke as rarely as possible and one we will not use without engaging the member in discussion first.
