What Is Kemet OnLine (KOL)
Kemet OnLine was created to serve the Kemetic religious community as well as those interested in the religion of Ancient Egypt.
This is an important point that bears repeating: We are here to serve the Kemetic community.
KOL's focus is asking ourselves--what do practitioners of the Ancient Egyptian religion today need to encourage and develop our religious/social/political growth, and what part of that can we provide?--and then answering those questions.
KemetOnLine, creator and provider of this site, is committed to creating space for followers of the religion of Ancient Egypt to carry out the dialogue and discourse they need to keep their religion vital and productive.
At KemetOnline, you'll find here the attitude that Kemetic practitioners are a caring and intelligent bunch whose thought and action arise out of deeply-held religious and spiritual concerns, whose spiritual practice is intimately connected to the rest of humanity with a strong social conscience (Ma'at), and whose religious practice is based off modern academic and scholarly works. Our conversations and community are geared to propogating that attitude.
What you won't find here at KOL is an an unruly group who aren't really religious or dedicated to the religious beliefs of Ancient Egypt, who believe the Egyptians are really Aliens, or who mostly just want to argue and cause trouble, and need to be kept in line.
At KemetOnline, we respect differences, but we do not reduce it to sameness, do not think it prohibits communication, and do not insist that it be reconciled through compromise. We believe that holding a space for difference opens creative possibility.
We recognise that, Kemetics will grow stronger and healthier when they bump up against one another, examine differences and commonalties, and stand in their uniqueness side by side.
KemetOnLine offers a variety of resources. As we grow, much more will be added and we hope you will use all of them and provide suggestions to us for expansion. Yet, while KOL does offer a variety of resources, the heart of our community is our conferencing system. Here is the real Community Center, where we can meet and talk, argue, pray, plan, struggle, learn, support and grow with one another.
KemetOnline has a staff of dedicated volunteers, offering their time and expertise to facilitate our discussion boards. At the top of each conference, you can see who they are.
The administrators (Rev. Jade Falcon and Rev. Renee Levant) are the owners and administrators of KOL. They bear responsibility for running the site and related decisions.
Feel free to communicate with both staff and administrators: ask questions, suggest new topics.
