Em hotep, everyone! <bow>
Today the newspaper said that perhaps thousands have died in New Orleans and that the city must be abandoned for several months before any rebuilding can begin. Outside New Orleans others have also had to flee their homes because of the hurricane and the rising floods.
It can be tempting to wonder what the "cause" or "meaning" of such an event might be. But what is best right now is to remember that everything is connected and interconnected, and that none of us lives outside being affected by the forces of nature, however much we try.
So I ask all of you to join Rev Renee, Wabs Jen and Andy, and me in offering prayers and cool water for our brothers and sisters, human and non-human, who are suffering and dying as a result of Hurricane Katrina.
May those who have lost their homes find a place of shelter for themselves and their families, and may the path of their lives bring them to safety and security again.
May all those excellent souls who have died be justified, may their kas live, and may they shine like gold in the vault of Nut.
Kheperu! (May it become!)

For all those who entered Wesir's realm on August 29, 2005, and the days afterwards:
We offer you a thousand of bread and a thousand of beer, and a thousand of every good thing. We honor you as our akhu and look for you shining like gold in the vault of Nut. Like Ma'at, may you ascend. Kheperu!
In our faith it is the custom to offer prayers for the beloved dead for the 70 days of their transition to becoming akhu , ancestors. I encourage anyone who wishes to join Rev Renee and me in offering prayers and cool water for these excellent souls.
Taking August 29 as the date of death, the 70 days extend until November 3. However, we know that many people died in the days after the hurricane's landfall and people are still dying from the effects of the storm. So we are going to extend the period of prayers for those on their journey to Wesir's realm in the West. I don't know how long, but for some time at any rate.
May their kas live.
Kheperu! (May it become!)
