Em hotep friends,
<bow>
We have heard, and though it has not yet been confirmed those close to him say it is true:
John Hagins (Isep) is dead.
Given the choice of going back to jail when surrounded by police he killed himself
We ask you to pray for John, his family and those who love him..especially during these next 70 days.
It is our guess that this will not be an easy transition. John believed as the song as the song on his live journal states:
It was "him against the world". And though capable of a great love for those he cared about..his behavior was such that caused pain for many.
John was a criminal. He ripped people off and refused to follow most laws. He was vengful and cruel to many.
Yet this stememd from depression and pain. Actually no. This stemmed from the fact that he did not believe he COULD make any choice
other than those he made..and that no one would ever actually open up any options for him.
Many of us know or have known that sort of depression and desparation. Thanks be to Netjer we believe despite that pain..or at least we
are open to believing that the world is such that things can and do change, that we oursleves can be agents of that change and that
because Netjer IS and because We ARE there is always something to live for!
Let us support Mr. John Hagins in his becoming Wesir. We ask you duringthe next 69 days to light a candle for Him each day.
We will post some prayers and the place of an online memorial for John Hagins Thursday evening October 16th at 9pm central time.
All who come with good will to assist John in this journey are welcome to attend regardless of affiliation or religious faith
More will be posted shortly

For John as he travels to the West
O you who bring blameness souls into the House of Wesir bring this excellent soul with You
Let him hear as you hear and See as You see

Hotep friend! <bow>
We know..and most important Netjer..and I suspect John knows you two...and those of you who wrote me to say you had difficulty getting to the chat..were there.
We will be posting a link soon to an online perpetual memorial for John.. It will include a transcript of the service and the opportunity for you to add your offerings and prayers and light a candle.
I know it would have been easier for many of our members if we just had it in our own chatroom. It really just felt more important and appropriate to use have it off site. I should have remembered how IRC for folks who have not used it before can be a pain and for a one time event not the greatest for that reason. Oh well.
I did think it was a pretty beautiful though And combined with others efforts and John's I believe it will be effective.
And of course on the KOL boards not viewable in public we have that beautiful prayer thread in the Sacred Spaces area.
Thank You guys.
I am so proud to be a part of this community. You all rock!
Best Rev Renee

Em hotep Paherban <bow>
Perhaps you can tell us what you mean by "meuttn sp senou"
I am sorry you cannot recognize the humanity of a person who committed crimes.
I am sorry if for you their crimes render them not worthy of human respect.
For us dead or alive EVERY Child of Netjer is first and foremost respected as a human being.
We in Per Ankh find it interesting that from time to time folks from other communities drop into this thread to complain either..that we are supporting evil John..or that we are attacking him too much.
It indicates to us how hard a time many have reconciling bad actions and a persons fundemental humanity.
Let me tell you a story.. Some years ago I ran a center which worked largely with immigrant gang youth and their familes in a very poor community.
One young Cambodian boy who had really won my heart somehow was getting deeper and deeper into crips gang activity. All of our efforts to help him did not seem to have much affect.
In this community the Crips were almost entirely Asian and the Bloods Latino and Black. One day the doorbell rang and it was Henry all dressed in his crips blue gear...with a very scafred looked latino girl about 14 years old..equally clad in the dress of the bloods.
Henry was almost carrying her. As soon as I opened the door..."Sister Renee..she..she she..needs help"
After many hours the young girl opened up. She had just jumped out a windoe after being beaten by her father. She had had it and felt she could not return.
Now here is the thing... Henry was able to respond to Maria's plight as a human person. He did not know her ..but saw what was happening and responded.
Now, this is no West Side Story. Not even a week later Henry was in a gang fight with bloods and violently and maliciously stabbed another young teen simply because the teen was a "blood" and he needed to defend his own.
It would be so easy to just deny Henry's humanity and goodness given this atrocious action.
It wouold be all too easy to somehow write off the atrocity of his act because I had seen his great compassion and humanity.
And yet to go in either direction alone would be to miss something of the reality of Henry..a young person who could be great;y compassionate...and brutally malicious and lots of other things as well
I will never praise the bad things Henry did, Nor will I ever deny his compassion or humanity.
And I would even go so far as to suggest that when we allow ourselves to fall into either extreme..there is something of our OWN humanity that gets lost.
In our faith we are all about multiplying Ma'at. Not dwelling in Isfet.
And too Wesir John is not the John/Isep who did criminal acts...The rites have been completed successfully..and he is now among the blessed dead.
I hope this at least begins to address your question
Blessings
