I would be interested in the introductory course you offer on Per Ankh. When are you offering it? What do I need to do to sign up for the next one?

hmmm. I wonder how that would work for me. I need to take the new members class, but I will be out on a work related conference for a whole week in the end of June.
Any advice?

Renee, will it be a problem that I will be out for around a week at the end of June? I really can't change it (World Archaeological Congress: I'm presenting, can't skip out).
I'm worried I'll miss stuff!!

Hotep Panthera,
It won't be a problem at all. LOL. Our classes are designed so that they run about 4 months (avg), so you'll know ahead of time what the lessons are like, and we ALWAYS make allowances for people in your situation. :-D

Thats great. I know I won't have access while I'm out there, but at least I know I won't be "graded down". heh.
Maybe I'll get to catch up with some Egyptian archaeologists out there? I haven't gone through all the abstracts yet to see who's coming.
I'm looking forward to the class. Huzzah!

Em hotep ! <bow>
Yes... Rev Jade and I are both really pushed at the moment.. We won't start the next round until we CAN do most of it.
We are less available than usual at the moment *pout* But as Rev Jade settles into her knew temple and home and as I settle into my new position ....things will get better again.
In the long run ...we just need a few priests in training to get trained up and do the class.
Of course Rev Jade and I will always teach some of the classes and get to know new members personally.
I do believe we are getting near a point though where a few Priests in Training may be able to take the new members classes on (well and maybe get rid of the last two words in their title ;-))
It is hard because we are Sooo young and yet growing waay faster than we would have expected ..
And we push ourselves a lot...You might notice that as the New members class is set up there is a LOT of work for the teachers! lol. And for the students as well. So please don;t worry that we would npot have Rev Jade and I present for classes.... We have really heard those of you (I think you were one of them , I know Nebra was) who expressed concern about the two of us not being accessible as we grow. That is just not likely. It is not our style. However others who have been trained will play much greater roles.
Infact this wil free us up to be MORE present in in terms of conversations and teaching and such.
So..as I said to Nebra...no worries.
Blessings Rev Renee

You know, I think I've noticed this, too. There really does seem to be a marked increase in the number of people interested in Kemetic beliefs. At least, that's what it seems like on a couple other boards I frequent. And it's not just that they want to incorporate the Kemetic Names into their (mostly Wiccan) practices. They really do seem to want to be Kemetic. Not that I'm complaining or anything. I was just curious, in the grand scheme of things, why more people now are feeling called to this recently than, say, a year and a half ago. Is it really because of 9/11 stuff war stuff?

The reason why I asked was that the first time I joined the new members class it was canceled due to not enough time.

Hotep,
Actually, it wasn't cancelled, but rather "re-started". LOL. It was the very "FIRST" class that we had ever held, and we had warned the students of this fact, and that we might make mistakes along the way. We learned a lot of things in that particular class.
However, after we restarted, the NMC class was a blast, as anyone of the folks who "graduated" from it can tell you. These same folks are currently in the Beginning Class now, for which the NMC is a requirement.

Question about the next NMC.. I know there's a chat component, right? Any idea what night that will happen on? I have the chance to take an intro pottery class for 10 weeks through the county on Wednesdays-- something I've wanted to do for a while-- but don't want to sign up for that if it's going to conflict with the NMC.

I understand that there's a chat part of the course. I am not sure how to do chat. I can do email but isn't it true that my computer must be a PC and not a mac in order to do chat?

The chat stuff is held with a java applet elsewhere on the website, as I understand it.
My Mac runs the applet fine, but thus far I've never been on when anyone else is.

A friend of mine just gave me a new computer- it's a Mac OS X and it works with the chat program just fine. I was playing around with it last night, since this is my first Mac.^_^ I found that, using the Safari browser from Apple, I'm able to hear sound effects on the chat which didn't work with the browser I was using on my PC. Very cool!!!^_^

It's an interesting question, and yes I've noticed it too. I suspect that we're seeing more people now because finally there are more groups around to take up the training of the newbies. More teachers training more students = better representation in the community = more interest. Also, Netjer seems to be drawing many of us together who didn't ever realize that there *was* a Kemetic community to begin with. Perhaps this is so that we can build up the temples and communities we'll need to accomodate all the increased interest? Only Netjer knows for certain.^_~

Oh, I really hope I can do the chats! I've been checking into the site on the sly while at work, but on Sundays I'll be stuck on a very ancient computer with exceptionally slow internet access at my boyfriend's mom's house. I hope her computer is up to the task! ~Redcatte
