Hello again, and farewell
      #14007 - 03/08/03 08:50 AM

Hi all, I have returned for a short while and it's always good to have the chance to drop in and *try* to access more of the site.

But I have been under pressure to abandon Kemetic customs and practice Taoism. See, I have been under pressure from *certain* people to embrace my cultural and religious heritage and become one of either Buddhism or Taosim. I have chosen Taosim because it is closest to the Kemetic philosophy. Consider it a testimony to the two years of happiness and satisfaction Kemet has brought to me. I won't be sad about taking Taoism, but I will miss the things I have done for other people in the name of justice and Thoth. I can probably do the same thing with Taoism, but it shall be more for nature, and the form of justice it advocates is not the same as Kemet, and I shall miss the religion in this way.

In Easter I shall finally be able to fully access the site, and you will find me in the multi-faith forum and the Egyptian history sections.

So Renee and Jadecat and Banu and all you Kemetics who are lucky enough not to be forced out of a religion, I say a farewell of sorts. I shall never be the person you knew, and it's that which gives me the biggest emptiness.

You could ask why don't I resist the influence. Considering it's coming from one of the leading officials of the Chinese Communist party (who just happens to be my father's friend), one finds it hard to disobey or avoid. It isn't too glamorous when you have acquaintances in high places, it only means you get trodden down on, let me assure you.

So, reply if you can, and I shall keep on visiting, because even though I am only a comparatively recent member, I can't find it in my heart to simply toss away this fine site full of fine people with a fine religion that I once enjoyed practising.

Raymond, noble blood of Lin

Em Hotep Ray,

You are ALWAYS welcome here. And I know that Kemet and the Netjeru will be in your heart. And even if you cannot worship actively, I am sure that your love for Them will always be known by Them.

I look forward to seeing you on the boards.
Even if you cannot practice Kemeticism because of these outside influences, it does not mean that you have to lose interest in Ancient Egypt.

*hugs*

Hotep Ray...

My heart cries for you. I too, bowed under pressure from family and friends to abandon Sekhmet, and I submitted to the pressure for a while. Now I am back. Sometimes it seems that the enemies of our gods can be relentless.

I will burn some incense to Tehuti for you in your name.

Em hotep brother,
<bow>

Truth is there is nothing incompatible about our teaching and your government's political beliefs.

Perhaps your father's friend would like to speak with myself. I have been a long term supporter of the CCP:) While I cannot say my view is shared by the rest of the Priesthood..the fact that one of the two founders and the primary teacher feels this way may help him relax.

I could easily assure him that we WANT you to pursue your culture and we value having folks with us from many different political perspectives. We especially appreciate the tradition in your country.......And you would NOT be the only leftist in the temple ...not by a long shot.;-)

Anyway if he would write me I would be glad to write a response which would be honest and satidfy his concerns.

Blessings Comrade

Rev Renee

I'm sad to see you so down, but I am glad that you will be sticking around. I am sure that although you will not be exactly the same person you used to be, you will always be you, and you are welcome here at any time. *hugs* I hope that your father's friend and Rev. Renee are able to get in touch and have a good talk.

To be honest I am not a supporter of the Communist party. I feel an entirely new political system is needed (but I shan't go into that), and etc. but we DO respect the officials who wield more power. Especially if one of them tells you in your face to do something.

Don't think I keep in contact with him like a good aquaintance, he is an offical and he needs to do his work. Besides, I don't know if it is my awe of him or anything; even my father does not particularly keep in contact with him. I don't have any of his contacts. He was only able to speak to me because our family met his one day.

I don't think just one person could sway me from Kemet but the pressure I find quite irritating is also coming from my parents, and several other narrow-minded people in my family. So to tell the truth, I am in a bit of a spot.

The worst thing is not embracing Taoism... I am already practising it. But... what I do hate is that people are pushing me around for personal things... and I WILL, eventually, have to let them get their way because they haven't listened to my reasoning and they have called my marriage of Kemet and Chinese heritage 'freakish' (not exactly like that of course).

Well I guess you guys are tired of listening to what has become a pretty pathetic life story in terms of family relations. I suppose it does happen so, especially through faith transitions and all that. But thanks anyway; I'll probably won't feel too bad about what has happened later on.

Hotep Ray,

<i>Well I guess you guys are tired of listening to what has become a pretty pathetic life story in terms of family relations.</i>

Actually, we want to hear from you, and what you are doing. Please continue to come to KOL and read and post.

(I'm back) Well, it's so far been pretty tumultous and quite confusing. I've noticed that my already considerably sad poetry is becoming more and more miserable. But I don't know, posting here has relieved some of my downess (is there such a word?).

I'm glad to hear that posting here makes you feel better- you know you can always come here whenever you need someone to talk to.^_^ I hope that you can find a different inspiration for your next poem, but I think I understand where you're coming from. I used to write really melancholy poetry myself. It can be a way to vent, though it can also be a way of fixing your mind on whatever situation's got you down. Maybe you would feel better if you could take a break and go outside for a bit? Get some fresh air and just feel the wind?
